Not since the heady days of the 80’s classic Bullseye have we has an iconic darts-based show but this past week The Winter Gardens, Blackpool has played host to ‘One Hundred and Eighty’ a game show destined to fill this gap; FGH has worked alongside The Winter Gardens during this time as part of our corporate security contract.
This most recent deployment has had star quality stamped all over it as the crème de la crème of our Events, Door Supervision and Security Guarding divisions have been deployed to secure The Winter Gardens and protect stars such as Davina McCall and Freddie Flintoff. The show, which arguably has found its natural home in the Winter Gardens- the destination for Variety entertainment, features famous darts professionals teamed up with members of the public; teams are encouraged to score big to increase the prize pot available to the winning team at the end of the show.
Richard Clark, FGH employee who looked after the Darts Professionals at the event, acknowledged the prestige of the deployment. ‘It was an absolute pleasure working with the Professionals’ says Richard ‘their natural competitiveness really helped them do the best for their amateur colleagues. Phil ‘the power’ Taylor was in particular very charismatic and always happy to have a chat with the fans. This has to be one of the best events that I have worked at for FGH, especially bearing in mind the iconic surroundings of The Winter Gardens. It’s given me some great stories to share with my friends and family’.
The show is hosted by Davina McCall and will see two teams go head-to-head in a series of darts-based games. Only one team can go through to play the final game and compete for big cash pot. The show will be compared by Professional darts commentator Rod Studd, off set by the down-to-earth wit of cricketing legend Freddie Flintoff. One Hundred and Eighty is a joint venture between Sky1 and ITV and will be screened on Sky1 later in September. We can’t wait!
