The highest number of nominations in the UK for the Security Excellence Awards

security-excellence-awardsFGH Security has received more finalist nominations at this year’s Security Excellence Awards than any other security company in the UK, beating the likes of industry giants such as Mitie, Showsec and Securitas. Peter Harrison, FGH Managing Director, said, “Being finalists again this year makes me very proud, this will be the fifth consecutive year we have attended the awards, during which time we have been finalists in more categories than any other companies in the UK.  It is a quite an achievement considering some of them are 3000 times as big as us!  I would like to pass on my thanks to all the devoted team at FGH, we would not be where we are without the commitment of our management team, supervisors and most importantly the team on the front line.”

The awards, now in its sixteenth year, aim to recognise best practice in all areas of the security industry and is widely regarded as the industry’s version of the Oscars. The finalists and eventual winners for each of the thirty two categories are chosen by an independent panel of industry experts who take a detailed look at each individual nomination. FGH Security were chosen as finalists in six categories in total; SIA Approved Contractor Scheme Champion, Corporate Social Responsibility Initiative of the Year, Customer Care Initiative of the Year, Event Security Team of the Year, Security Guarding Company of the Year and Security Training Initiative of the Year.

The SIA Approved Contractor Scheme (ACS) Champion nomination highlights the work that FGH do to highlight the benefits the ACS scheme has for customers, stakeholders and how the company as a whole works in partnership with the industry regulator to help further its aims and objectives. The award also looks at the wider role that FGH plays in the wider community and the new technological and training initiatives the company has put in place to spearhead industry development.

The Corporate Social Responsibility Initiative of the Year award focusses upon the work that FGH have done in developing industry specific learning programmes. The programmes focussed on employability, life skills and working in the security industry and were targeted towards the under twenty five age group with a view towards reducing youth unemployment in the company’s operational areas.

The Customer Care Initiative of the Year Award nomination looked at the difference the #Tentwatch scheme made to the Kendal Calling festival. The scheme used a range of integrated advertising, marketing and social media initiatives to help make festival goers of the risks of leaving valuable items in their tents. The initiative was supported by Cumbria Constabulary and helped to reduce thefts by 81% despite the festival increasing in size, which made the festival one of the safest in the UK.

Event Security Team of the Year demonstrated the high quality work that the company does at high profile events such as Kendal Calling and Manchester Pride. At both of these large events the organisers highlighted the key role that FGH played in not only ensuring that people are safe but also in setting the right tone for each event. This was combined with the technological and service delivery initiatives that the company has championed to become the first choice provider for a number of the UK’s largest and most popular events.

The Security Guarding Company of the Year nomination showcased the focus that the company has on retaining experienced members of staff and how the company as a whole is geared towards them reaching their full potential whilst maintaining one of the highest service delivery standards in the UK. It also focussed on the company’s culture of continued improvement to maintain a competitive advantage.

Our FGH Future Leaders Scheme was nominated for Security Training Initiative of the Year. The scheme seeks to provide ongoing professional development for all staff members through supervisory and senior management positions. This talent management seeks to retain key members of staff through effective succession planning in line with individual staff member and company strategic goals. The end result of this is that FGH consistently reinvests in its staff to maintain one of its key competitive advantages by being able develop its key assets.
