#TeamFGH will be providing raceday Safety Stewards and Security services to Chester Racecourse, the oldest racecourse in the world, still in operation.
Starting from May 2023, the initial term of the contract is set to last for three years, with the possibility of extension. The contract will see #TeamFGH responsible for #KeepingPeopleSafe at the historic racecourse, which attracts over 330,000 visitors annually, not just on race day fixtures but also non-race day events.
As part of its services, #TeamFGH will provide Level 2 Spectator Safety trained Stewards and SIA Security personnel to ensure the smooth and safe running of all events at the racecourse.
The announcement follows a competitive tender process and comes as a testament to the company’s experience and expertise in providing high-quality security and stewarding services at major events and stadia throughout the UK and Europe.
Commenting on the contract award, FGH Project Manager and tender submission lead Dave Taylor said;
“Working with Chester Racecourse is an immense privilege and we are looking forward to starting in May. The tender process was incredibly robust and we were delighted when the award notification came through. I’d like to say thank you to everyone involved in the procurement process especially the team at Chester Racecourse who were supportive throughout”
The contract at Chester Racecourse will be a dual award, with G4S also undertaking Safety and Security for racedays. Following the announcement, Matthew Jones, Head of Health and Safety at Chester Racecourse said;
“Amazing to have FGH onboard with G4S supporting our raceday Safety and Security function this season”
Located just south of our Manchester Office, Chester has a rich history that dates back over 2,000 years. Originally known as Deva, it was founded as a Roman fortress in AD 79, and later became a major trading centre during the Middle Ages. The city’s historic architecture is still visible today, with notable landmarks including the Roman walls, Chester Cathedral, and the Rows, a series of covered walkways lined with shops and boutiques. Today, horse racing continues to be a beloved pastime in Chester, with the racecourse serving as a venue not just for horse racing, but also concerts, festivals, and other events.
