Seven Nominations at the IFSEC’s Security & Fire Excellence Awards

2nd October 2019 | 4 minutes reading time

Another record year at the Security & Fire Excellence Awards (SEA’s) for FGH Security. Team FGH have been named finalists 7 times in 6 different categories. This is more than any other company. We are continuing to go above and beyond when it comes to award nominations. For the past 5 years, we have received at least 6 nominations each year at the SEA’s.

We are hoping to build on our success as double award winners of Event Security Team of the Year. Being nominated in this category twice this year doubles our odds of winning and demonstrates the fantastic work we are doing as an Event Security Team.

These are the awards categories we have been nominated for this year:

This award recognises our active promotion of the SIA’s Approved Contractor Scheme which is set to raise performance standards and assist the private security industry.  Our contributions help further these aims and our purpose of Keeping People Safe pushes us to create a safer environment for the public.

Our submission this year focused on the issues we wanted to address regarding our waste. When deploying our festival team into the fields we now have policies in place to combat our waste. We have also signed up to Festival Vision 2025 and have been sharing our ideas with the festival community to create a positive effect on the environment we work in.

Our entry looks at how we have installed a Learning Management System (Team Portal) to give each FGH team member a personalised online learning presence. This enables compulsory training for all employees or highly specialised training for a small group, to be completed quickly and easily. Customers can also supply their own training material and be sure this has been distributed to our team.

We are finalists twice in this category for our work with Glastonbury and Liverpool City Council.

With Glastonbury, we gave examples of challenges we faced such as late notice resourcing when other suppliers had shortcomings. Because we have strong values and personal relationships with our team when our management team explained we needed an additional 50 team members who were off work they volunteered to attend the site and work extra shifts to assist. The result was that we were able to increase our planned capacity by almost 50% in 48 hours based on employee engagement.

With Liverpool City Council we discussed how what we did at the Liverpool Giants and the Liverpool FC’s Champion’s League Victory Parade made us stand out from others in the industry by demonstrating how we tailored our service for them.

We secured our position in this category by showing we actually live by our company values. We recently received a MIND Silver Award which saw our employee net promoter score rise from 64% to 76% and won a place on the Sunday Times Top 100 Employers due to our work on employee engagement.

Our nomination for Security Training Initiative of the Year revolved around the installation of our Learning Management System giving each employee a personalised online learning presence. Increasing our number of training hours by 110%. New employees are happy that the online training allows them to revisit this that were covered in basic training that they may have forgotten and are reluctant to ask about since they should already know. The majority of our team tell us they are feeling more competent in their current job role since the programme was launched.

David Hassall, Marketing Manager said, “One of the most rewarding parts of my role in FGH is coordinating the submissions for the awards we take part in every year. From a writing perspective, it’s hard to summarise twelve months of achievements and successes of the team. Getting under the word limit can actually be a nightmare at times. The Security Excellence Awards are seen as the Oscars of our industry and we have a fantastic track record at the event but we’re always keen to do better and give the team the recognition that they deserve. To have two finalist entries in the Event Team of the Year category this year is a fantastic achievement in its own right and is a first for us. From the perspective of our clients, the awards serve as an assurance that when they choose to work with us they literally are working with the very best that the industry has to offer.”

The awards ceremony will take place on Wednesday 20st November 2019 we will be posting LIVE updates from the awards evening on our news pages, Facebook, Twitter & Instagram.
