Qualsafe Emergency First Aid at Work

Duration:
1 Day (6 Hours of contact learning)

Description:
A one day first aid course covering all the basics of first aid.  Recognised by the Health and Safety Executive and replacing the old ‘appointed person’ course.  Course content includes calling the emergency services, dealing with an unconscious casualty (recovery position), CPR, legal requirements and contents of a workplace first aid kit, treatment of wounds and bleeding, choking casualty, Epilepsy and burns.

Recommended for:
Anyone who wishes to be a first aider in low-risk workplaces including Bars and Nightclubs, Restaurants, Offices, Shops, and Schools

Assessment:
The course is assessed on the day by the trainer.  There is a practical assessment whereby the learner must correctly demonstrate the application of a wound dressing, CPR on an adult manikin and placing an unconscious casualty in the recovery position.  There is also a 20 question multiple-choice test at the end.

Certification:
Certified through Qualsafe.  Certification lasts for three years, but HSE strongly recommend annual recertification.

Entry requirements:
The ability to kneel on the floor and roll someone into the recovery position.

Progression:
A more advanced course is First Aid at Work (FAW).  This is a three day course for more advanced first aid practitioners which we also offer.
