Find New ways of giving back to society
Last weekend FGH Security reprised our role the Parklife festival by deploying around 70 staff members as part of a Community Impact Taskforce for the residents around Heaton Park. The goal of the team was to work in conjunction with a range of agencies including Greater Manchester Police, local councils and Environmental Health Officials to minimise the social impact of this pivotal event in Manchester’s event’s calendar.
The Parklife Community Impact initiative provides residents with a for the purpose of real time feedback on the event. This enables event organisers to coordinate the need for a security presence but also requirements relating to cleansing, policing and licensing. Peter Harrison, FGH Security Managing Director, describes FGH’s role upon the community impact team as being even more invaluable a year down the line. ‘We had one Parklife under our belts’ says Peter, ‘by reviewing the event log from Parklife 2015 we were able to identify recurring patterns and times where the residents most felt the presence of the festival. This meant we were able to forecast more effectively the requirements for our team and target areas where in the impact on the local area was most pronounced. As a result, our people on the ground were even more effective and delivered an even better service to the residents of Heaton Park.
It is a fine balance between facilitating a festival which is such a boost for the local economy and ensuring that the people of Heaton Park are happy. FGH drew upon the upon the solid customer skills of our workforce and by means of specific training and briefings; daily debriefs and re-briefs, were able to provide a responsive, meaningful security solution as and when needed. The feedback from both the residents of the local area and festival goers has been overwhelmingly positive as both parties feel safer and more positive about the event due to the work of the Community Impact Taskforce.
We would like to thank the residents of Heaton Park for helping us to help them and praise both our team the rest of our partners. All worked exceptionally well together in lowering the impact of this important event. We look forward to serving the residents of Heaton Park next year.
