FGH Security MD, Peter Harrison, talks about the personal kit he will pack before going to work at a festival for a few days. The video is aimed as a guide for his team from FGH Security although please feel free to share within other security circles.
Peter draws on experience he has gained from his early days as a Cub Scout, his five years as a Royal Marines Commando, his numerous adventures and expeditions and ten years working as Security Manager at large scale outdoor events.
He commented “Staying comfortable whilst working is everything; a comfy team is a happy team and a happy team is an effective team who can carry out their duties with the utmost of professionalism – even in the harshest of conditions”.
While the video is not a finite guide on what is necessary it has made sure Peter is prepared for most eventualities he has come across over the years. As standard FGH Security supply all their team with LED torches, waterproof and hi-vizability clothing, notepads, pens, PPE such as ear defenders and baseball caps. Specific teams will also be issued with adjustable spanners, head torches and any other tools we deem necessary to maximise their potential as a security operative.
Peter did forget to mention one of his most vital pieces of kit that keeps his morale high when it is dark and wet – his FLASK! FGH always keeps a few urns of water on the boil and has unlimited tea, coffee and hot chocolate available.
