We’d like to congratulate John Bolton on his promotion to Head of Finance. John recently passed his final CIMA case study exam, and it’s great to see him recognised for his hard work.
“Always give 100% in whatever you do,” said John. “Whether you’re a steward in a field or delivering a board presentation, you don’t know who’s taking note.”
John joined FGH Security in 2018 as a steward while studying Accounting and Finance at Lancaster University. John was recruited through the Lancaster University Rugby Union. This was part of our student sponsorship program, where we provide sports teams with sponsorship and employment opportunities.
He loved working at events, so he took the opportunity to get his SIA Door Supervision Licence. This allowed him to work as Event Security, and it wasn’t long until John was advanced to a Security Supervisor position.
“Take advantage of any opportunity that you get. I first met Pete while working as a supervisor at a festival. He asked if anyone wanted to join him on a run before shift, and I said yes. Since then, we’ve completed the 3 peaks as part of a team for charity, and I was lucky enough to be able to take part in the London Landmark half marathon on behalf of CancerCare,” John said.
Upon graduating, John applied for our graduate management accountant role and has worked at Head Office since 2020. As the company grew, so did John’s team, getting him a well-deserved promotion to Finance Manager.
We asked John what he likes about working for FGH Security:

We enrolled John with The Chartered Institute of Management Accounting to study the CGMA Professional Qualification through our personal learning development fund scheme. We recognise that our team are our most important asset. This scheme allows us to provide them with opportunities to progress.
