The Festival Supplier Awards have awarded us Best Crowd Management/Security

The Festival Supplier Awards are now in their ninth year. They have been developed to recognise, reward, and promote best practices in the outdoor event and festival sector. To receive this prestigious award for the 4th time is a huge achievement. We also received the Best Crowd Management/Security Award in 2020, 2019 and 2018.

Peter Harrison, Managing Director, Amy Stanley, Head of Events & Festivals, and Tom Sharman, Regional Manager South attended the award ceremony.

Amy Stanley was ecstatic with the award win: “This is an amazing accomplishment for us. It’s great to see the Events & Festivals Team appreciated for their hard work. A vast amount of forward planning goes into the festival season, so it’s incredible to be recognised as the Best Crowd Management/Security festival supplier in the UK. Thank you so much to our front-line team, this award is for you.”

Upon announcing the winner, the judges commented:
“This finalist demonstrated the particular skills crowd management and security teams need in supporting young people attending their very first festivals.”

The judges also highlighted the great training schemes we have in place.

Last festival season we put Safeguarding and Welfare at the top of our agenda, with Level 3 Safeguarding qualifications for our managers and enhanced procedures for dealing with vulnerable people. We continued our leadership development with an MSc in Crowded Places and Public Safety Management for Mark McQuade, and another cohort of 10 Level 5 Crowd Management passes.

This year we plan to build on this success by seeing the graduation of 22 management training program candidates, and for those working in events, a specialism in Crowd Management or Spectator Safety qualifications. We are developing our counter terrorism capacity with 7 managers completing Undergraduate Diplomas in Counter Terrorism Risk Management at the University of Cumbria. Additionally, we will be conducting original research into safety, security, and crowd management at events through our managers’ postgraduate theses.

This contributes to our purpose of #KeepingPeopleSafe by building expertise, retaining talent, and offering real development and sustainable career opportunities in a great place to work. All of which leads to a better service for our customers and a safer festival environment.
