This weekend sees the relaunch of Revolution Lancaster (part of Inventive Leisure). FGH provided the venue with staff since it first opened in 2003 and we look forward to making it a continued success in the years to come.
FGH has worked with Lancaster University Students’ Union for over ten years now. They are one of our longest established clients and this has allowed us not only to form a productive working relationship but also tailor our staff base to their needs.
Each year the Union hosts Grad Ball which is a chance for the students who have graduated to celebrate their achievements and enjoy themselves with their friends one last time. This year the Ball was held at the iconic Blackpool Tower Ballroom and gave guests the chance not only dance the night away on the same dance floor used by the BBC for Strictly Come Dancing but also go to the top of the tower and take in the fantastic views of the Fylde Coast.
FGH provided the full event security for the Ball which included performances from Ms. Dynamite and Chase & Status. “It’s a privilege to work with the University again this year and testament to trust that they place in us to ensure that our staff set the right tone for the event and that each guest has a great night,” explained Alex Redman the client’s Operational Manager responsible for the event.
Blackpool Pride attracts thousands of visitors each year from across the UK. Blackpool Pride works to promote an awareness of equality and diversity and reduce homophobia in the wider community. This culminates in the Blackpool Pride Festival which is a celebration of cultural identity and LGB&T lifestyle where visitors can meet and make friends and be themselves in an environment where everyone can feel safe and welcomed. The Festival itself was based at the Blackpool Winter Gardens and included over 50 market stalls, a Trans Zone, several bar areas, crèche facilities and a separate children’s entertainment area. There was a wide range of artists playing in the main event hall, including Christopher Maloney and 5th Story.
This year we have worked with the event organisers to provide the security for the event and provided a team of friendly and helpful staff with the aim of contributing to the the welcoming and inclusive feel the event organisers were trying to achieve.
Providing the right security solution for events is always about ensuring that everyone attending has a positive and enjoyable time and we understand that we’re often the first point of contact they have when they arrive so we make sure that we always give a great first impression. We also worked with the Winter Gardens’ Management to ensure our staff were fully briefed on working within their operating procedures so we could efficiently work alongside their own staff in case of an emergency.
This week we are distributing posters which aim encourage responsible drinking during the World Cup to a range of pubs, bars and nightclubs across Lancashire, Cumbria and Greater Manchester. We have worked in partnership with Lancashire Constabulary, Greater Manchester Police and Cumbria Constabulary in designing the posters and they have endorsed the initiative which aims to make people aware of their actions and not drink an excessive amount of alcohol during the games.
The initiative also demonstrates the level of experience we have working alongside a number of Police Forces, the SIA and licencing departments. These working relationships also mean that our clients trust us to work the key organisations that can have an impact on their business and help to protect their licence.
Since taking over as Licencing Sergeant in January 2013 I have developed a close working relationship with Ben Knott (FGH Security Operations Manager) who is quick to respond to any matters that arise. In this time, I have regularly interacted with Door Supervisors from FGH Security and have found them to be polite, professional and well trained. Partnerships like this can be instrumental in reducing alcohol related crime and it always puts my mind at rest when I know FGH Security are operating at a venue in my division.
FGH Security are pleased to announce that we have achieved a record breaking score of 156 in our most recent SIA Approved Contractor audit.
A score of 142 was needed to place us in the top 38 security suppliers in the UK (out of a total of 766 SIA Approved companies).
Our research shows we are the highest scoring security company in the Northwest.
Our Business Director commented “Holding SIA Approved Contractor Status is not enough for us, we need to differentiate ourselves from the other suppliers and we challenge buyers of security to ask their supplier what score they achieved in their most recent audit. Although the score is not everything, our score of 156 is testament to all the hard working staff we have invested in. Well done everyone!”
FGH Security has just won the Commitment to Skills Award at the Red Rose Business Awards 2014. The award, sponsored by BAE Systems, highlights not only the company’s ongoing commitment to having a highly trained and adaptable workforce but also allowing its staff to develop themselves to their full potential. FGH beat seven other finalists selected from hundreds of entrants from across Lancashire to win the award. The judges said, “FGH Security showed passion and enthusiasm to training both internally and externally and commitment to the long-term unemployed and young people.”
“The award puts us head and shoulders above other security providers in Lancashire and is testament to the focus that we have placed on training within the company over the years and the real benefit that this provides to clients,” explained Peter Harrison, Managing Director. “Our service is centred around real added value so when you work with FGH Security you can rest assured that the staff that make up our Corporate Guarding, Venue Security and Crowd Management services are not only some of the best in the security industry but also provide a level of service that any other external supplier you work with would find hard to beat”.
FGH’s entry focussed on three key areas of the business; leadership development, professional development and placing young people into sustainable employment. Leadership development within the company focuses on developing key management and senior staff members within the company so they are more effective at getting the best out of the staff they are responsible for. Professional development within FGH is centred on job enrichment which provides the opportunity for internal promotion within the company and integrated progression. Finally, the company also has a focus on giving young people the opportunity to develop their job with them into a stable and productive career. This includes giving them a broad and transferable skills base so they are ready for the world of work.
