Retail Security London – JD Sports Expansion

Our team at New West End Company recently collaborated with the Metropolitan Police Service on Project Servator. Project Servator aims to deter, detect and disrupt a range of criminal activity, including terrorism, while providing a reassuring presence for the public.
FGH have worked with New West End Company (the business partnership which represents 600 businesses in London’s West End & Mayfair) since April 2021, and we work to make the West End’s International Centre more diverse, sustainable, and exciting!

Our team are extremely committed to keeping the West End safe and so were happy to undertake some training, led by PC Brian Masters of the Metropolitan Police Service. The training begun with an introduction to Project Servador, which gave an insight into looking for anomalous behaviour, finding the baseline of an area and what to do if someone is acting out of the ordinary or responding to a security presence negatively.
The team then headed out in 3 groups and joined up with 7 Project Servator officers to Oxford Circus and Selfridges to take a look at the crowds and pick up on anyone acting suspiciously.
In total throughout the course of the training session, around 10 individuals were stopped and spoken to, including 2 undercover police officers!
This was a fantastic opportunity for the NWEC team to upskill and the training was well received by the Security Officers. We will look to collaborate on more projects going forward to provide refresher training for the team.
