We’re the first and only manned security company in the UK to make it as a Times Top 100 Employer. Ranked as the 89th Best SME in the UK to work for.
We are a Recognised Service Provider at the Real Living Wage Foundation.
3-star accreditation from Best Companies for our exceptional workplace engagement. We are the only security company in the UK to gain this accreditation.
Proud to be Disability Confident committed by ensuring our recruitment process is inclusive and accessible to all.
FGH Security was founded on 27th March 2003 with the mission and purpose of raising the standards in the UK Private Security Industry.
In early 2003, our very first customers were Grizedale and County Colleges at Lancaster University; we provided a team to work one night only for the Extravaganza parties.
At the time, Door Supervisors were still called Bouncers, and many wore bomber jackets and tracksuits and would smoke on the door. Extreme, unnecessary violence was commonplace, and it was not unusual for teams of Bouncers to meet for a few pints prior to starting work!
The training was different back then too; Door Supervisors took a one-day course and then applied for a licence with their local council. It cost £40 per year for the licence. Security Guards nationwide had no licence or training given.
We aimed to raise these standards. We created many new courses, implemented hundreds of procedures, and developed best practices in hospitality, security and incident management.
In 2005 we took on our first major Event Security contract – a small 800 capacity event in Kendal named Kendal Calling – little did we know at the time it would grow to the incredible 30,000 capacity event it is today.
Our team onsite at Kendal Calling has grown from just 15 in 2005 to over 350 at the 2019 festival.
2006 saw us establish a Security Guarding division, our first customer being Lancashire County Council. It also saw the introduction of the SIA and the SIA Approved Contractor Scheme. We helped pilot the scheme and played a part in drawing up the first workbook for the SIA. We were one of the first companies in the UK to hold SIA Approved Contractor Status – there are around 850 now. We continue to be SIA Accredited Contractors for the provision of Door Supervision and Security Guarding.
Since then we have continued to progress and make our mark on the industry to become the FGH you know today. And we like to think that we continue to play a leading role in raising the standard of the Security Industry.
We are the most decorated Private Security company in the UK and are the only Security Company ever to be recognised as a Times Top 100 Employer. As we continue to grow, we want to stay faithful to our vision and continue to Keep People Safe.
FGH Security is launched with the intention of raising the standards of Door Supervision at Lancaster University where Peter was studying.
2003FGH Security expands into Security Guarding with Lancashire Council being the first guarding customer.
2005FGH attended their first ever festival at Kendal Calling. Although this started as a smaller the job it now has a capacity of 30,000 and FGH are still their main supplier.
2006Peter appeared on Dragon's Den to secure a loan to grow FGH Security. He received offers from all 5 dragons, but after reviewing the paperwork decided not to pursue the deal.
2010FGH Security wins a major a contract to supply one of the worlds most iconic festivals in the heart of Somerset.
2015We have placed an order to secure three Tesla Cyber Trucks as soon as they are released in the UK. They will primarily be for use on our festivals and will be allocated to Operations Managers.
2018FGH Security wins contract for the Liverpool Cup Parade; the celebration of Liverpool winning the UEFA Champions League.
2019FGH Security are recognised as a Sunday Times Top 100 Best Company to work for.
2019A BID in London which covers Oxford Street, Regent Street and the surrounding areas.
2021FGH Security provide security provision for Europe's biggest Christmas festival.
FGH Security is selected as an Official Stewarding Provider for the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games.
We have a recruitment policy to attract the best possible candidates, often from outside the industry, and then retain them.
We know we are only as good as our people on the ground.
We know if we look after our people then they will look after our customers.
Local causes in the areas we operate in. We aim to make a real difference in the communities we operate in and help to support a number of localised charities, from Unique Kids through to CancerCare.
Over the years this has included a range of initiatives ranging from working with homeless charities through to donating and distributing toys to children’s charities at Christmas time.
Such as Movember which aims to raise awareness of the issues effecting men’s health in the UK. It’s not just about growing moustaches though as each year we organise a charity climb.
Our Evading Violent Encounters (EVE) scheme is a course which is completely funded by FGH and open to all. It aims to raise awareness of women when out in social situations or who work in any industry where they deal with the public how to avoid and remove themselves from potentially dangerous situations. It is our aim to have delivered this to over 10,000 across the country by 2022 at a range of festivals, events and venues, completely free of charge.
We work with the Woodland Trust to fully offset our carbon footprint each year and reduce this by 10% each year. Through our ISO 14001 accreditation, we aim to reduce the amount of waste we produce as a business each year and actively encourage our employees to think about the impact which they have. Together we’re trying to make the planet better.

Solving complex problems and impressing customers.
Applying academic theories and the latest management models to real-life scenarios.
Forming long term strategic plans and creating a winning culture.
This is a really tough one. I am very fortunate to have such an amazing team around me and to be constantly offered so many opportunities with both FGH Security and the Royal Marines.
Highlights so far:
1. Appearing on BBC Dragons Den,
2. Climbing Mont Blanc,
3. Running 72 miles coast to coast,
4. Gaining my Green Beret,
5. Standing on stage with my team every time we win a new award.
I founded FGH Security when I was a first-year student aged 19. I was sick and tired of security companies treating my friends really badly. It was meant to be just a little bit of pocket money whilst I studied. By the time I graduated we had 60 people in our team so I decided to pursue it full time.
We have been very fortunate to have some amazing customers that have taken us on their growth journeys over the past fifteen years.
Every day is just amazing at work. I am very lucky to be involved in so many projects and to work with so many really great passionate people.

I love to create precise and hopefully engaging word-based content and wage a one-man crusade against the grocer’s apostrophe, missing capital letters and the use of the word ‘bespoke’ in any context. It gives me the opportunity to wave business cards in the faces of those who told me I would never find a professional use for an English degree.
My proudest professional achievement is coming up with the phrase “Keeping People Safe” as well as being part of the management team that took FGH from a bunch of Door Supervisors in Lancaster to the embryo of what the company is today.
Personally, my greatest achievement is raising 4 wonderful children. It’s definitely not getting my first Black Belt in Aikido from the great Ulf Evenas back in 2012. Honest.
I have lived a super exciting life including graduating from Lancaster University, the University of Cumbria and the University of Central Lancashire (in that order) and working for a diverse range of high quality employers including FGH Security, myself and FGH Security again.
I first started with FGH Security in 2006 and I’ve spent most of my career in Learning and Development (15 years) and Security (12 years) note that some of these years overlap. I’m not that old. I have also spent a considerable amount of time raising 4 wonderful children and doing what my wife tells me to.
I also like outrageous geek stuff like Dungeons and Dragons.
I have also been informed by my 4-year-old that I like playing Om Nom Run with him. I dispute this claim.
Do you have a favourite mantra or saying?
There is nothing good or bad but thinking makes it so.I’d like to say Brothers Karamazov because I love it and it makes me sound smart, but I’d be lying. It’s Lord of the Rings.
Guiding potential employees by ensuring the recruitment process flows as smoothly as possible.
My best achievement was completing the Duke Of Edinburgh Award in 2015, an achievement I am particularly proud of.
I attended Lancaster & Morecambe College in 2015, and completed my NVQ Diploma in Performing Engineering Operations.

Starting my own cake company that I work on in my spare time.

With events coming back this summer, I cannot wait to be back in the fields and in the middle of all the fun. However, the Lancaster Student Union (Sugarhouse) will always be my go-to venue to work at as it’s a natural fit with me being a Lancaster Uni student.

I enjoy working with people from different backgrounds, building stronger relationships and helping the community in general. I specialized in the security industry to improve the environment for other people. Because of my military background I know it is important to have discipline in every aspect of your life to minimise mistakes and have a peaceful life.
I have been working in the security field since I was 18. One of my personal accomplishments was to go another country, learning the language and getting the chance to continue my passion, as well as expanding my career.
I’m grateful to have had the opportunity to be promoted to a more senior position and to have gained useful skills in FGH Security to further my career.
I am originally from Spain, but I have been living in London for seven years. I have moved many times in my life, and I have developed a natural ability to embrace change and build new relationships with people from other cultures.
I have an academic background in law and psychology, and for the last few years I have worked within the Security sector. I also spent a few years in the army as a police officer, learning important values such as discipline, resilience, and hard work, as well as how to excel in a collaborative environment.
Working as a security officer has given me the opportunity to improve my communication skills, learn from all kinds of situations and acquire important knowledge about how to deal with a diverse community.
I feel inspired and I enjoy being surrounded by people who have accomplished great things in their lives. This boosts my motivation to keep improving as a person and a professional.
