We are firmly rooted within our community and work in conjunction with learning providers to encourage the long-term unemployed into sustainable employment. We offer work placements, internships and apprenticeships with a view to nurturing talent within the industry. We have been recognised by winning the Committment to Skills category at the 2014 Red Rose Awards. Amy Stanley, our Business and Administration Level 3 apprentice, has been awarded Most Dedicated Apprentice 2013/2014 by Lancaster and Morecambe College.

FGH is committed to sustainable development and is keen to champion environmental initiatives throughout the company.  We believe in sustainable delivery for all our services and encourage our staff to live healthy and active lifestyles. We provide free kit for team sports and have our own football, rugby and running teams. The management team often participate in physically active team building exercises such as fell walking and climbing. We are working towards ISO 14001, consistently meet our own stringent recycling targets and advocate environmentally friendly means of transport through cycle and walk to work days, car sharing initiatives and the Bike2work Scheme.

We are a keen supporter of local charities and regularly raise money for our chosen causes. Charities that we support include: Unique Kidz, CancerCare, Movember and Round Table. Our charitable ethos is communicated and encouraged across our workforce.

Our current target initiative is FGH EVE Manchester 2014. This builds on FGH EVE 2012 in which 100 women, mainly students and leisure industry and nursing staff attended our free personal safety training in Lancashire.

Both our directors sit in the SIA Strategies and Standards board, which aims to further improve the security industry. Peter Harrison also speaks regularly at Bolton University and Lancaster University giving advise and mentoring to young people starting out in business.

We are a keen supporter of local charities and regularly raise money for our chosen cause for that year.  We are keen to work as part of the wider community and work closely with several Police constabularies and other key stakeholders in the security industry.

We were finalists for the Policing Partnership of the Year Award at the IFSEC Awards 2010 and have also run a training program to help local Street Pastors better understand the role of Door Supervisors within the night-time economy.  We see it as our role to spearhead change in the wider security industry.  As such we were the first company in our area to achieve full Approved Contract Status back in 2006.  Since then our Managing Director, Peter Harrison, has spoken at SIA Annual Meetings and played a role in the development of the industry.  We were recognised for our contribution to developing the industry by winning the ACS Champion of the Year Award at the Security Excellence Awards.

Peter Harrison also regularly speaks at Bolton University and Lancaster University in the wake of the companies successful appearance on the BBC Show Dragon’s Den giving advice to young people thinking of starting out in business.

Both our directors sit on the SIA Strategies and Standards board, meeting twice a year in London to further help improve the industry as a whole.
