7: Be the benchmark for others & set new norms of behaviour

For the third year in a row FGH Security has been nominated more times at the IFSEC Security and Fire Excellence Awards than any other security company in the UK. This year we have received the highest amount of nominations in the company’s history by being finalists in seven separate categories. Peter Harrison, FGH Managing Director, said, “It is always fantastic to be recognised by others within our industry.  I like to describe the security excellence awards as ‘the Oscars of the security world’.  I cannot really take much credit for our success.  It is our front-line team members for continuing to show the utmost amount of friendliness, integrity, pride and teamwork during every single shift they have undertaken over the past year.  And for that I am forever indebted.  I would also like to congratulate all the other entrants whom like ourselves, continue to push forward in further professionalising the UK’s security industry – I wish everyone the best of luck on the night of the awards.”

A panel of judges assess hundreds of entries each year before the final list is published a month before the awards evening which will be held on the 23rd November in London.

This year we are finalists in the following categories; SIA ACS Champion of the Year, Corporate Social Responsibility Initiative of the Year, Customer Care Initiative of the Year, Event Security Team of the Year, Security Guarding Company of the Year, Security Training Initiative of the Year and Security Partnering Initiative of the Year.

Our SIA ACS Champion of the Year nomination highlighted the work we do with the SIA to further the aims of the Approved Contractor Scheme and the industry leading work we do outside the security industry.

Our Corporate Social Responsibility Initiative of the Year nomination acknowledged our focus on improving staff health and welfare through our work with grass root sports teams and individual staff members who choose to participate in a sport or activity. It also demonstrated the wider impact that our published Mission, Vision and Values are having in shaping the company’s development.

The Customer Care Initiative of the Year Award nomination looked at how active client and customer engagement is shaping FGH and helping us to provide an industry leading level of service.

Our Event Security Team of the Year submission this year highlighted the exceptional service delivery that FGH offers and the partnerships we build with our clients. It also highlighted the specialist supervisor training and development modules we have developed and refined over the past year.

The Security Guarding Company of the Year nomination showcases the company’s use of technology to improve staff engagement and demonstrated how we have built on our beliefs to offer a rewarding staff benefits package.

Our Integrated Management Development programme was nominated for Security Training Initiative of the Year. The programme looks to develop managers at all levels within the organisation and highlighted the outreach work we are doing with some of the UK’s leading universities and industry experts.

Finally, our Security Partnering Initiative of the Year looks at the work we have done with Mission Mars (the people behind venues such as the Albert Hall, Albert’s Schloss and the Elephant and Liberty Tavern) to offer a service which enhances their brand offering at the distinctly different venues which make up their portfolio. It also looked at how this has improved our supply chain management within the company.
