FGH Went Down A Storm At Kendal Calling

2 minutes reading time | 31st July 2019

Kendal Calling is one of our most hotly anticipated events. Staff, crew and revellers alike can’t wait to get back to the fields! The award-winning family festival kicked off on Thursday 25th July with main acts this year including The Courteeners, Nile Rogers, Chic, Tom Jones, Years & Years,  KT Tunstall and Manic Street Preachers to name just a few taking to the main stage over the weekend. The music was as good as the atmosphere and this year’s Dinosaurs theme saw festival-goers dressing up as The Flintstones, T-rex’s & Cavemen.

The event is one of our biggest deployments of SIA Licenced Security Staff and Stewards in 2019. Our team reunited once more to oversee the safety of the fields and its visitors after covering two deployments last weekend at Bluedot Festival and Liverpool International Music Festival. This is the 14th year the festival has taken place and the 14th year we have secured the event with the friendly and helpful presence we are known for.

Kendal Calling is known for having the best music (and security) but not the best weather. On Saturday the event had a 12-hour downpour, but the rain and mud didn’t stop the crowd from having a good time. As the weather turned our team kicked up a storm, and were videoed dancing to Lionel Richie – All Night Long between acts at the main stage.

What is the key to our success at Kendal Calling? Working closely in conjunction with Cumbria Police, Kendal Calling organisers and medical teams by communication and sharing information to secure this amazing festival and keep people safe.

Amy Stanley, Assistant Head of Security said, “Kendal Calling was another success despite numerous weather challenges at different points over the weekend. The team performed to the best of their ability and pulled together in difficult circumstances. We have had fantastic feedback from the Kendal Calling Organisers with regards to incident management. A personal thank you to all those who worked Kendal Calling, we couldn’t have done it without you!”
